Protective filter covers for 3M7093 cartridges
The TPU 90A filter covers are an advanced protective solution designed to secure 3M7093 filter cartridges during storage and transport. Made from industrial-grade thermoplastic polyurethane, these covers offer exceptional mechanical strength and a watertight seal verified by rigorous testing.
The twist-and-lock system ensures an airtight seal of the breathing chamber, creating a watertight barrier against contaminants, including asbestos fibers and other hazardous particles. This design eliminates any risk of cross-contamination and accidental exposure during the handling of used filters.
The technical design also allows for partial use during operations: by unlocking the four ends, the user maintains optimal airflow while blocking large debris, thus extending the service life of the filter cartridges. The integrated fastening system prevents component loss, while the TPU material facilitates cleaning and decontamination for multiple reuses.
Compatible exclusively with 3M7093 particle filters and variants, this protective device meets the requirements of high-risk environments such as asbestos abatement, demolition, and industrial work requiring respiratory protection.
What your complete kit contains

Operating instructions
A. Extending the lifespan of filters during operations
Step 1: Inspect and clean the pair of lids
Before each use, inspect the TPU walls and the Twist & Lock mechanism for any cracks or loss of tension in the lock. If damaged, replace the component immediately.
Also inspect the inside cavity of the covers for any contaminants or debris embedded between the sealing surfaces. These particles could compromise the integrity of the seal when installing the covers on the 3M7093 filters.

Step 2: Attaching the lids
Position the lids with the retaining clips facing down, pointing inwards. Apply firm pressure to each of the four corners until an audible click is heard. Tactile resistance will confirm that each corner is properly inserted into the filter frame. Then apply pressure around the entire perimeter to ensure the lid is evenly inserted all the way around.
IMPORTANT : Check the orientation before installation to ensure a watertight seal (see image on the right).

Step 3: Entering the work area
Attach the filter to the covers installed on the 3M respiratory protection mask using the bayonet locking system. Disengage the four corners of the covers by pressing them in, then peel the entire perimeter of the frame away to expose the filtration openings. The covers remain partially deployed, ensuring optimal breathing while limiting the intrusion of large particles during operations.
IMPORTANT : Orient the retention straps towards the inside of the mask (pointing towards each other) to ensure proper installation.

B. Decontamination with installed covers
Step 1: Attaching the lids
Follow the fixing procedure described in section A - Step 2.
IMPORTANT : Check the orientation before installation to ensure a watertight seal (see image on the right).

Step 2: Installing the Twist & Lock protective plugs (Optional)
Remove the 3M7093 filters from the respirator mask, keeping the covers in place, then install the protective plugs by inserting the locking tabs into the notches in the breathing cavity (see left image). Rotate clockwise until the rotating locking system is fully engaged (see right image).
Ensure that the corners and edges are firmly pushed into the notches before proceeding with rinsing as indicated in step 1.

Two rinsing methods are possible:
Option 1 – Cleaning without a mask : Remove the 3M filter from the mask with the cover attached, then install the Twist & Lock fasteners. Rinse everything with water and then wipe the assembly with a clean, dry cloth.

Option 2 - Cleaning filters attached to the mask : Rinsing can be carried out directly with the covers installed on the 3M7093 filter mounted on the respirator mask, without compromising the integrity of the filtration system. Then wipe with a dry cloth, tilting the mask downwards to allow excess water to drip off.
Thorough cleaning required : In the presence of excessive accumulation of debris on the covers (particularly during demolition work above the worker's head where particles fall directly onto the filters), a complete cleaning must be carried out.

C. Cleaning is mandatory after changing the cartridge!
WARNING : CRITICAL DECONTAMINATION PROCEDURE
When replacing used 3M7093 filter cartridges with new ones, the protective covers AND Twist & Lock caps must be thoroughly cleaned before being reinstalled on the new cartridges.
This mandatory step eliminates any residual contaminants transferred from used filters and prevents cross-contamination of new cartridges. Failure to follow this procedure exposes the user to the risk of inhaling hazardous particles during subsequent uses.
The cleaning of asbestos-contaminated materials must be carried out in accordance with Ontario Regulation 833.
